Veterans Day

November 02, 2020

Due to COVID limitations the Nodaway-Holt School District has decided to show their appreciation to all of those who served a little differently on Veterans Day this year, instead of having an assembly. Please see the following information regarding how each building will honor our veterans.

Elementary

The elementary teachers will have Veteran’s Day activities within their classroom.  The upper level TAG students will present a small poem over the intercom and then lead the school in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Jr/Sr High School

At the Jr/Sr High School, instead of hosting our annual Veterans Day Ceremony, we have decided to hold a moment of silence to honor our fallen soldiers as well as a drive through breakfast for any veteran in the area. Organizations will donate, and prepare, food items for veterans to drive through and pick up.

Items include: scrambled eggs, biscuits & gravy, breakfast potatoes, bacon, sausage, pancakes, coffee, and orange juice.

When cars pull up, a student will go out and take the veteran’s order or they may phone ahead. We will then put the order together and the student that took the order will then deliver the food to the veteran’s vehicle. This drive through breakfast will take place from 8:00-9:00 am on November 11, 2020.

Additionally, we will take the following precautions.

  • When food is being prepared, delivered, or cooked a mask and gloves must be worn at all times in the cooking area.

  • When taking orders, students will wear a mask.

  • Hand sanitizing will be used frequently.
