4th Graders Attend Kid's Conservation Day

The Nodaway-Holt 4th graders traveled to Maryville to attend Kid's Conservation Day.  Students had an opportunity to learn about different types of conservation at interactive stations.  Students learned about soils, erosion, habitats, beekeeping, wildlife, and forestry.

8th Grade Completes Island Activity

The 8th grade students recently completed their first island activity. Once a month the 8th grade science students will participate in an island project. The island projects involve problem solving, cooperative teamwork, and STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics).  Each island starts with a task and a blueprint. The students are split into competing islands and try to solve the problem . . .

Yearbook Staff Receives National Award

On September 12, the yearbook staff went to St. Joseph to attend a yearbook workshop. While at the workshop they were presented with a National YRBK Program of Excellence Award. Qualifications to receive the award are: meet cover sheet and cover deadline, meet all page deadlines, at least 50% of all students featured in book 3 times or more, 70% buy rate or 5% increase in sales from previous year. Elementary Students Recognized for Responsibility

Nodaway-Holt Elementary students are recognized each month for displaying the character trait of the month.  Students are acknowledged by their teacher and receive a certificate for making such good choices throughout the month.  Congratulations to the these students for displaying high levels of RESPONSIBILITY to start the school year.

Volleyball Girls Win Consolation

Congratulations to the Nodaway-Holt varsity volleyball team on their consolation finish in the East Atchison Trounament on Saturday, September 7. After losing their first match against East Atchison, the girls didn't look back the rest of the day beating West Nodaway in three sets and then South Holt in two sets to earn consolation. We are proud of you ladies!

Northwest Regional Teacher of the Year Candidate - Tenique Hays

The Nodaway-Holt School District is pleased to announce the recognition of Tenique Hays for her excellence in the classroom. Mrs. Hays was nominated as a Northwest Regional Teacher of the Year Candidate and was recognized at a ceremony today on the Missouri Western State University campus where she received a Certificate of Recognition. Congratulations, Mrs. Hays on your accomplishment.

West Nodaway JH Volleyball Tournament

Tournament Format: The tournament will be pool play with eight teams divided into two pools of four. Each team will play three matches of two games, each in their pool. After completion of pool play, teams will be matched against teams from the other pool that finished in the same rank order in their respective pools. If there is a tie, they will first look at head-to-head matchups, then cumulative point differentials, then do a coin . . .

High School Chemistry - Unknown Solutions

High School Chemistry students completed their first lab of the year by identifying unknown solutions. During the experiment the students reviewed multiple aspects of lab safety, including; handling acids, using the fume hood, acid spills, and correctly using a pipette. Be sure to check out our unknown solutions lab report on the science bulletin board in the hallway to see what the unknown solutions were!
