Grandparents and Special Friends Spend the Afternoon at the Elementary

It was a packed house as we held Grandparents and Special Friends Tea the afternoon of Friday, Oct 11th.  Thanks to all of those that made it to school and visited our classrooms and the book fair.

Local Firefighters come to the Elementary for Fire Safety Week

Local firefighters were at the elementary on Friday, Oct. 11th to share the importance of fire safety.  Students were able to meet the firefighters, see the tools that they use, and learn how to stay safe if a fire were to happen.  A special thanks to all of the volunteer firefighters for taking the the time to share and all that they do for our community!

Grab and Go Breakfast

As part of the Missouri No Kid Hungry Initiative, Nodaway-Holt School is offering a grab and go breakfast for JH/HS students between 1 st and 2 nd hour. Students are able to pick up convenient pre-packaged breakfast from a mobile cart. The grab and go breakfast follows all USDA guidelines and the National School Lunch Program benefits (free and reduced benefits) apply. Please direct questions to the office at (660) 939-2137.

Boosters Approve Funding

On Wednesday, October 9, the Boosters voted to approve fund requests for a new scorer's table for the gym and a new mascot costume. The items combined totaled just over $3,200! The current scorer's table was built when the gym was built in the year 2000 by the Ag students at that time. Our current Ag students plan to take the old scorer's table and salvage wood from it to make a bench to raffle off. Proceeds will go to . . .

The Book Fair is Coming to the Elementary

The Scholastic Book Fair is all set up and ready to be opened starting next week.  The Book Fair starts on October 8th and will close October 17th.  The Book Fair will be open during Grandparents and Special Friends Tea and also the night of Parent-Teacher Conferences.

Education Foundation Spends Big

Last night, the Education Foundation held one of their semiannual meetings where they accepted all 20 classroom grant applications. Beyond the twenty classroom grants, the Foundations also approved spending over $12,000 for STEM related items for the Elementary bringing their total just under $20,000 so far this year.  Current Education Foundation Members are: President Mike Hanson, Secretary/Treasurer Linda Gallagher, Max . . .

Sophomores Attend My Success Event

On Wednesday, October 2 the sophomores attended the My Success Event at the Wyatt Baptist Church in St. Joseph. During the event they were able to speak with different colleges and local businesses about various career opportunities in our community.

Basketball Apparel Order Forms Available

The Booster Club basketball apparel order forms are now available.  Please see the attached pictures for options.  First round of orders are due Oct. 17th.  Second round of orders are due on Nov. 21st.  Please turn in orders to LeeAnn Albertson or NH Elementary or High school.

Flu Shots Available at Parent-Teacher Conferences

The Nodaway County Health Department will be at our Parent Teachers Conferences giving flu shots from 4:00-6:30pm. They will be available for the community, students, and staff.   They will be located in the Maitland cafeteria.    You will need a copy of your insurance card for them to bill.

Elementary Students Recognized for Respect

Nodaway-Holt Elementary students are recognized each month for displaying the character trait of the month.  Students are acknowledged by their teacher and receive a certificate for making such good choices throughout the month.  Congratulations to the these students for displaying high levels of RESPECT throughout the month of September.
